Curry-flavored beef noodles

Ingredients (3 servings)

Beef rib block 600g
[A] Soy sauce 1 Tbsp
Sake 1/2 Tbsp
S&B Oriental Curry Powder 2 tsp
Sesame oil 1/2 Tbsp
S&B Oriental Curry Powder 1 tsp
Sake 50ml
Hot water 800ml
[B] Soy sauce 2 Tbsp
Sugar 1 Tbsp
White pepper powder Pinch
Star anise 2 pieces
Five-spice powder 1/4 tsp
Bay leaves 1
Garlic 1 block
Noodles 200g
Bok choy As needed
Salt Pinch

Directions

  1. Cut the beef into large dices, rub [A] onto the beef pieces, and leave for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the sesame oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry [1]. When the beef turns brown on all sides, sprinkle the curry powder and stir-fry. Add the sake and let it come to a boil.
  3. Move [2] into a pot together with the soup. Add the specified amount of hot water and [B]. When it comes to a boil, braise for 40 to 50 minutes over low heat.
  4. Take out the beef when it is cooked through and tender. Taste the remaining soup, and if it needs more taste, add salt.
  5. Boil the bok choy.
  6. Cook the noodles.
  7. Put the noodles in a bowl, place the beef and bok choy on top, and pour the soup over the noodles.
