Menchikatsu (Minced Meat Cutlet) Sandwich with Curry Sauce

Ingredients (For 4 pieces)

Onion (minced) 100 g
Panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) 15 g
Ground beef and pork 300 g
Salt 1/2 tsp
Black pepper Pinch
Egg 1
Flour As needed
Beaten egg As needed
Panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) As needed
Deep frying oil As needed
【Curry Sauce】 Onions (thinly sliced) 100 g
Mushrooms (thinly sliced) 100 g
Canned tomatoes 100 g
Olive oil 1 / 2 Tbsp
Red wine 2 Tbsp
Water 300 ml
S&B Golden Curry Sauce Mix 92g 2 blocks
Buns 4
Butter 2 Tbsp
Cabbage (shredded) As needed
Red onion (sliced) As needed

Directions

  1. Mince the onions and mix with panko breadcrumbs.
  2. Add salt, black pepper, egg and 【1】 to the Ground beef and pork and mix well.
  3. Split the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape into patties.
    Coat each patty with flour, beaten egg, and panko breadcrumbs in that order, deep-fry in oil preheated to 150-160℃ (300-320℉) until golden brown, and then allow excess oil to drip off.
    【Curry Sauce】
    1. Thinly slice the onions and mushrooms.
    2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and stir-fry ①. Once the onion and mushrooms become tender, add the tomatoes, stir-fry, and then add the red wine. When it comes to a boil, add water and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes.
    3. Turn off the heat. Add the S&B Golden Curry Mix, then stir until it is completely melted. Turn on the heat again, simmer while stirring occasionally. (Approx. 5 min)
  4. Lightly toast the buns (halved), and butter them.
    Stack the cabbage, red onion and minced meat cutlet on the bottom half of a bun, put the sauce on the minced meat cutlet, and then cap with the top half of a bun, making a sandwich.
