Hayashi (Hashed Beef) Rice Casserole

Ingredients (4 servings)

Beef (thin slices) 250 g / 9 oz
Onions (thinly sliced) 350 g / 13 oz
Vegetable oil 1 Tbsp
Water 400 ml
S&B Tasty Hayashi Rice Sauce Mix 160 g 1/2 pack
Warm cooked rice As needed
Butter As needed
Cheese (melting type) As needed
Boiled egg As needed


  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy pot and stir-fry the onion until it becomes soft, then add the ground beef and stir-fry further. (Approx. 5 min)
  2. Add the water and once it comes to a boil, turn down to low heat. Put a lid on the pot leaving a small gap between the lid and pot and simmer until the ingredients become soft. (Approx. 20 min)
  3. Turn off the heat and add the S&B Golden Curry Mix by breaking it into pieces, then stir until it is completely melted. Turn on the heat again and simmer until the source becomes thick. (Approx. 5 min)
  4. Grease a heatproof baking dish with a small amount of butter and put the rice in.
    Cover the rice with 【3】 and put the sliced boiled egg (sliced) and cheese on top. Bake in an oven at 200°C for 12-13 minutes until the surface becomes golden brown.
